anticipating

if the future was real

it might explain the way that i feel

a reason to remain in the continuum

a solution to the so far numb

if today was true

i would be looking at you

with eyes that perturbed the very space

where we held our special place

if bygone was indeed a time

then these memories would be so sublime

since, before i knew you could exist

i imagined you through the transcendent mist

if never was actuality, a wall

a realm we could not break into at all

how might the emptiness unfold

with our stories not ever to be told

if eternity was designate our fate

upon this life is where i would wait

to be forever in ether’s domain

anticipating our extracorporeal refrain
