another night to put the day to bed
as though this day could ever hope remain instead
oh day, now gone, to wish that we had never met
in thanklessness could not more a day regret
another night to look reality in the eye
as though this reality could ever hope to die
oh reality, now gone, to wish that we could truly know
in thanklessness, yet satisfied that you will never show
another night to mark against the clock of being
as though this fraction of a clock could ever hope of seeing
oh clock, now gone, to wish that time had better spent of this
in thanklessness for taking yee the piss
another night to dream of days that might have been
and wake once more in thanklessness, philosopher’s chagrin
